I made a decision today that I had been pondering for a LONG time now…
I decided to change my status at the winery from part time - assigned shifts to part time - on call…
There were MANY factors influencing my decision to do this:
Over the last several months my travel has increased both personally & with work, with no slowing in sight…
Looking at kiddo’s summer soccer / tournament schedule weekends are going to be jammed packed…
Alternating custodial weekends was creating the fact that I needed to work on the weekends I have kiddo, thus taking time AWAY from her…
Lack of open weekend time …to run…to go out with friends…to drive to the beach…to just “be”…
Needing more flexibility in my schedule in general…
And, I would be lying if I said that last weeks bombings in Boston didn’t have anything to do with my decision….Because it did…it just made me know that what was weighing heavy on my heart and head about doing this was the RIGHT thing to do — at least for now!
When I emailed my management team this AM I was not sure of the response I was going to get…I knew that they would not let me ‘go’ but I wasn’t sure how pleased they would be with this decision…
Here is a snippet of the reply I received from my management team:
"As a hard-working member of the team and an incredibly enjoyable person to work with, we’re glad that you’re able to continue on an on-call basis."
I really do LOVE my job at the winery and sooooo glad that I get to continue to do it….
…just a little less often!!!

CHEERS!!!
